Machines
PRODIKA-ABS edging strips can either be processed mechanically with hot melt adhesive technology on edge banding machines or manually.
Gluing, milling, cutting and processing of high-quality surfaces with a scraper as well as reworking with polishing wheel and hot air blower is possible without any problems. The number of pressure rolls and pressure setting should be in accordance with the machine manufacturer's data to achieve an optimum joint pattern.

Room temperature
The room temperature / ambient temperature has a decisive influence on the flexibility of the edging strip and its processing. Optimum processing conditions exist at a temperature of 18°C.

Wood moisture
The wood moisture influences glue adhesion and thus the adhesion of the edging strip to the wood support.
- The ideal wood moisture for gluing is 7 - 14%.
- If values deviate from this we advise against gluing.

Surface
Most surfaces have a scratch-resistant UV cured synthetic resin varnish coating and are insensitive to stains.

Gluing
PRODIKA-ABS edging strips can be processed with all customary hot-meld adhesives such as EVA, PA, APAO and PUR.
The adhesive should be applied evenly and allow for small glue bubbles of the freshly glued edging strip to be pushed out at the edges.

Scraper
The scraper gap should be max. 1.15mm. In case of discolouration (stress whitening) hot air blowers can help to avoid cutting edge whitening.

Chop cut
Chop cuts are made with chop saw blades that are pointy toothed on one side. Double-sided chop saw blades may cause break-offs in thin edging strips.

Polishing
PRODIKA-ABS edging strips can comfortably be polished with 200mm diameter polishing wheels at approx. 10 to 25 m/sec. Special wheels and, if necessary, waxes are necessary for high gloss edging strips. Rests of glue and whitening can be removed with buffing wheels.

Suction
A speed of approx. 30 to 40m³/min is necessary for suction

Varnish coatings
Almost all varnish colours can be applied to unicolour PRODIKA-ABS edging strips without any problem. Nitrocellulose lacquers or similar solvent-based coatings should be avoided as they damage the surface.
PUR coatings or acrylate-based lacquers are more suitable. Further information can be obtained from the coating manufacturer.

Storage
PRODIKA-ABS edging strips are resistant to deterioration. They should be stored in a dry place at a room temperature between 18°C and 25°C unaffected by weather conditions. Edging strips older than 12 months should be tested before processing.

Cleaning
PRODIKA-ABS edging strips can be cleaned with all customary household cleaners. Due to the solubility of the surface we strongly advise against the use of solvents (petrol, acetic acid, acetone or solutions containing nitro).

Disposal
PRODIKA-ABS edging strips are easily disposable with thermal recycling as they are chlorine-free.
